The world is changing. School should, too.
The 21st century workforce demands a variety of skills and abilities from America’s future graduates. Students will be expected to be effective communicators, critical-thinkers, problem-solvers, and creative leaders in order to compete in the emerging global economy. Unfortunately, school has increasingly become an overly standardized, one-size-fits-all environment. Fill-in-the-blank worksheets, straight rows, rote memorization, and boredom seem to dominate many classrooms. We need more from our students, and they deserve more from us.
School must be a place that encourages creativity, leadership, and other 21st century skills while learning essential academic content. Only then will students be able to effectively compete in the global workforce.
We at Studio D have three major beliefs that drive all the learning experiences we provide our students:
1. Learning occurs best by doing.
Our students deserve to learn in an environment that treats them as producers, not just consumers.
2. Students are leaders, designers, and innovators.
Our students have dynamic and diverse talents, and school should serve as a platform to explore those.
3. The boundary between the school and the public must be eroded.
Our students deserve rigorous and meaningful learning experiences that foster powerful collaborations among professionals, business leaders, and community stakeholders.

We marry the best of design thinking and project-based learning together to create a union unique to our students and school that produces authentic, high quality student work.
